The Android is in its baby steps. Do you think they have done well? Will they expand across carriers and the world? I believe...yes. I have admired Google's Android OS for a while but now I am really beginning to like it a lot. My brother is going to develop applications for Apple, I on the other hand have been enjoying Android more everyday. I was wondering if any of you guys have written any apps for Android or Apple and which ones?

Garmin Nuvifone Strolls Through The FCC

Nearly a year ago we heard about the Garmin Nuvifone was in the making. We were so excited that a phone could have real GPS, think of that...GPS in your pocket! Well since then GPS and a phone seem to be perfect matches and very common even with "dumbphones" too. And even back in the beginning of May when we heard At&t would be getting that beauty for $500 soon. Well that would soon be figured out to be just a mere rumor out by garmin, until now because it just passed the FCC as the ASUS Calf but is no other than the Garmin Nuvifone. This phone contains a respectable spec sheet including GPS (really?), wifi, 3 megapixel with GEO tagging, and many other presumable specs for this bad boy. Hold on At&t customers no less than 4 months!

Samsung's TouchWiz Phones vs HTC's TouchFlo 3D Phones

What would you rather choose for your UI? The TouchFlo 3d for some new HTC touch screen devices or the new TouchWiz for some of Samsung devices. HTC's TouchFlo 3D devices include the HTC Touch Pro, Touch Diamond, Touch 3G, Touch Viva, Touch HD, and the HTC Max 4G. This is the following line-up for the TouchWiz interface phones, the Samsung Omnia, Eternity, Delve, Behold, and the Samsung Pixon. Now I know we're talking about UI's but lets also look at the specs on these phones too.

Now the best camera phone (as far as mega-pixels wise) is the Samsung Pixon. Score I for Samsung.

As far as sensitivity I believe Samsung did another better job (DISCLAIMER: I have only used the Fuze and the Eternity!) So only fair I say its a tie. Samsung II and HTC I.

Now were on for our heavy texters and emailers, HTC blows Samsung out of the water with a qwerty phone, the HTC Touch Pro, and also with the 4" inch touch screen of the Touch HD and Max 4G it gives people plenty of room to use the variety of keyboards you can choose from. Score for HTC. Samsung II HTC II.

Now easy of use also a tough one especially since both Samsung and HTC covered up some of there WindowsMobile phones with there very nice clean cut UI's, I like how HTC has made a kind of drag or tap for the TouchFlo 3D tabs and with Samsung's scroll bar of widgets it is very nice to have everything categorized. It is by a slim, oh so very slim margin but HTC won. HTC III and Samsung II.

Finally which is more business oriented? See this is hard because Samsung did make some of there phones more of fun related such as the Eternity, but they knew when they got into this game that they would be compared to HTC in a lot of ways. HTC has all of there touchflo 3D phones as smart phone so another score for them.

Conclusion:

Despite the score of HTC on top with 4 points and Samsung with 2, Samsung did a very fine job with there customization for there phones. It is very phone just to drag and drop the useful and fun widgets. HTC has done an excellent job with there TouchFlo 3D phones, if they just made the sensitivity and there cameras a little bit better then they can be on top. Samsung just needs to put more widgets and a better looking menu and they can be on top. Just because HTC won out of the two doesn't you'll like it better its a matter of preference, I actually like both of these and glad they are putting some fun in Windows Mobile, keep it up.

Where Is The LG Xenon?

Where is this previously rumored device? At&t now has the Quickfire, so where is is the challenger? With specs like it has such as 3 megapixel, wifi, bluetooth, and only 15.8 mm thick where is it? I am really looking forward to this device being launched before Christmas and will help with the messaging phones, it will most likely not be considered as a smartphone because it has a proprietary OS just like the Matrix and Quickfire.

Samsung Omnia? No but Eternity with At&t

Samsung Omnia? Bearing the symbol of At&t? No, but a very similar model, Samsung A867

"Eternity." One of the things that no one has notice is NO D-PAD just a back button! Which is all right but I just liked the fact that the omnia was a lot a computer... oh wait, this doesn't have windows mobile so it really shouldn't HAVE TO have it. Besides that it has Touchwiz with At&t MobiTV, 3.2 megapixel camera without autofocus and flash, GPS, and TV receiver. All that saying we don't know much about this device but it looks good so far and can't wait till it comes out.

AT&T To Get "AT&T Quickfire"

The Quickfire is an attractive new device will be heading to At&t very soon, possibly tomorrow, November 3rd. The Quickfire does indeed have a touch screen, qwerty keyboard for you texters, At&t Navigator (At&t's own GPS), 1.3 megapixel camera, and all of your basic phone necessities... such as calling (no punt intended.) But they have declared this phone a "non-smart phone", non-smart phone=not EXTREMELY expensive data. Now At&t is now trying to do appeal to teenagers, non techy parents, and our senior citizens as well with the upcoming Quickfire, LG Incite & Xenon, Samsung Eternity, and the now available Pantech Slate & Matrix, and Samsung Propel.

Which Touch and Type Are You?

We all know that the two biggest qwerty phones that will be available in 2008 are the HTC Touch Pro and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. The best thing about these two devices are that there touch screen. At first it appears to me the Xperia X1 looks a lot better to type on since there's space and it looks like a little bit bigger than the Touch Pro's keys but it seems that the Touch Pro is better for typing and although we have really only seen the prototype of the X1, I think that the Touch Pro is more on the touch friendly side. It could go down to which carrier it comes to in the U.S. and how they modify the user interface.

A Future At&t Touch Pro In The Works?

Although a rumor about At&t getting the Touch Pro it may not be a rumor after all. First question, is there any branding on the hardware... yes, bottom row, fifth key there is the At&t logo which is most likely there for the internet browser. Second question, is the guy selling it legit... apparently since he has 100% feed back on shipping. Third question, what are those symbols up in the right hand corner... it means there is no sim so no network or a lot of status information. I hope this guy got his money worth since it was $900 for it. He is supposed to be getting the shipment from ebay today so we'll have to see if its true.

Garmin Nuvifone

Garmin has been trying to mix a true GPS with a good phone. Looks like it could be coming At&t, rumored that it will be around $500 in May,although it has been delayed till 2009 my guess is that it will be $200- $300 since the iPhone 3G has become "Half The Price."

Nokia Tube and The Dark Knight

The highly anticipated and rumored Nokia phone the "Tube" has been seen in the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight." Since the Tube hasn't even been announced yet for where or when and even more importantly if it's just a concept or if it's for real. Apparently it is real and from what I think it'll debut in America first, because the Dark Knights in America before all of the UK.

The Nokia Tube, looks like another "wanna be" iClone right? Well it looks like Nokia has done a good job on this one because although resembling the iPhone quite a bit the Tube will be hitting key features Apple has missed on it's latest phone, such as higher camera resolution, bluetooth, higher end of the GPS, MMS, video recoding, video conferencing and other features that you may not always use but when the time comes when you need it, its great having them.

At&t free iPhone wi-fi is here

Despite AT&T's best attempts at completely failing its free WiFi promises eternally, iPhone owners can finally fire up Mobile Safari in their local Starbucks, or, um, that one other place we heard about with AT&T WiFi, and get browsing. Of course, that's not to say the service won't crash horribly in the next 10 minutes, but at least AT&T stuck by its word, and can now move on to more pressing issues.

At&t mobiTV service with Olympics

Now that At&t has there own mobiTV serivice with the LG Vu and the Samsung Access and with 10 channels there has been another channel devoted to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Since Verizon and Att are the only carriers in US with real 24 hour TV services so this could be a good deal with At&t but that saying it's not like people are going to buy the Vu just to watch the Olympics while they should be doing something else at work.

HTC Victor

The new HTC Victor, basically the HTC Touch Diamond but with a more...of a regular back for the Diamond, which I don't think thats a bad thing. From with I've heard the Diamond is hard when you put on a flat surface. This looks like the future version of the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV, but I bet it's for T-Mobile Germany...any T-Mobile but our fellow America one,sorry T-Mobile. The Victor is a little bit larger and lighter than his twin the Diamond. So far it's only for Taiwan.

Blackberry Bold passes FFC

The new smart phone from Blackberry looks like its been through the FFC, apparently the GSM kind and the CDMA version will come officially to the FFC most likely around August or September time. At&t will be getting the Bold first in August and will have a head start on Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

iPhone 3G Rumors: True or False?

One of the most successful phones sold by the U.S, Apple decides to make another phone of there own the iPhone 3G. Now we all heard the rumors of MMS, Video recording and video conferencing (with the extra camera on front), and the presumed voice recording and commands. Do you think they could still be true? Though Apple released the full walk through of the iPhone 3G, you think Steve Jobs could be saving "but wait there's more..."? Those rumors could be true, especially since Apple doesn't release things that almost always comes true. I guess we'll find out soon.

Samsung Omnia

I saw that this new sleek phone (on the left) will be coming to At&t soon. And with three touch screen phones on the At&t network (iPhone 3G, LG Vu, HTC Tilt) and soon to be four this could be interesting. The Samsung Omnia runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, has a 5MP camera with face detection, quad-band EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, 3.2″ WQVGA touch screen(240×400), comes with integrated Bluetooth, and with an optional 8GB or 16GB of internal memory. In addition to the regular AT&T multimedia features such as AT&T Music, AT&T Video and GPS, the Omnia will also feature AT&T Mobile TV!
